The Muscle Wizard Review
Definitely the best product on the market today if you look at all the features. The Muscle Wizard comes with a strap, a shoulder strap pad, 4 knobs (they call them ‘Wizard Fingers’) and a buckle. At first, it looks like all it does is help press into tight muscle knots, but it does a whole lot more. (More on that later).
You can adjust the strap to the best length for you. If you have upper shoulder muscle knots, simply wrap the knobs over your shoulder muscles and then put the other end around your knee. The cool thing is that you can then just press your leg down (doesn’t require a lot of effort) and that use of the body leverage will get you some really intense pressure into your muscle knots over your shoulder.
You can do the same with the low back. Wrap the wizard fingers around your back and put the other end around your knee. All you have to do is drop your knee down and the leverage of the body will help you dig deep into your muscle knots.
Versatility: The Muscle Wizard can massage all sorts of parts of the body. You can massage the back, legs, arms, calves, shoulders, etc. There are four knobs for multiple points of contact along the target area. With its strap design, you can wear the Muscle Wizard in all sorts of ways to position the knobs. The pressure you apply is based on where you wrap the strap around. For example, the Muscle Wizard is commonly used for lower back massages. You wear the strap with the knobs pressed against your lower back and wrapped on your shins. The strap is then tightened accordingly and you simply lower your knee to pull the knobs inwards onto your back. This allows for multiple levels of pressure, and is easy to adjust depending on your massaging needs.
Precision: The knobs on the Muscle Wizard are specific to a general point. With four knobs, you can reach points that are nearby where you want to massage. This precision and additional massage points is equivalent to four thumbs massaging your muscle pains away. The Muscle Wizard can reach many places on the body, including the shoulders, upper back, lower back, and thighs. The knobs can be used for manual massage for the calves, arms, and shins.
Easy to use: There is some degree of difficulty when first using the Muscle Wizard. This massager is relatively new, so there’s not a lot of information out there. Its design is unique and, I would argue, revolutionary to self-massagers. The Muscle Wizard design does not require any hands and very little effort to apply pressure for massages. There is also a buckle for detaching the strap if needed. Common uses for the Muscle Wizard involves lower back massage and posture correction for those long hours in an office chair, in front of a computer. The Muscle Wizard website also contains a lot of videos demonstrating the multiple uses of the product.
Portability: The strap design allows for easy carry. The Muscle Wizard could be carried by wearing it over one shoulder or around your neck. The strap could also be rolled up and neatly tucked away in your backpack compartments or into a bag. It’s lightweight in design, and takes up very little space when rolled up. Can be easily stored in a small drawer without complaints.
Quality: The Muscle Wizard features cotton canvas straps, similar to most backpacks. This allows for high durability and the ability to sustain high pressure massages. There is also padding with the Muscle Wizard logo on it to provide comfort for the body part that is pulling the strap. The price point for this self-massager is $60. It is definitely pricier than the average massagers by $10-$15, but because of its versatility from design and multiple precision points with no hands required, the Muscle Wizard is definitely a must have for those who sit frequently. It is also a great general massager that is hands free.
PROS
Hands free and can do it sitting up:
These two are the biggest features I see that puts the Muscle Wizard ahead of most massage tools. Most of the positions doesn’t require me to hold the tool. You use your leg as leverage to apply the pressure. If you have knee pain, you can actually wrap it UNDER your thigh and then just let your leg hang down.
I can also use while I’m working at my computer or sitting around watching TV. This is really helpful for anyone that can’t roll around on the floor. Even better if your boss at work isn’t going to LET you roll around on the floor to target your muscle knots!
Can hit more than one muscle knot at a time:
This is a bit of an advantage since you have 4 knobs instead of one for the cane type of tools. However, that doesn’t mean you are always going to hit 4 different areas. I’ve found that at most, there are probably going to be 2 knobs that are really hitting the spots and the other 2 are not until you shift your position a bit and then can hit the others. But for the low back, this is gold! You can hit 2 spots on the left side and 2 on the right side and move up and down the back. That alone SAVES TIME!
You can vary the pressure:
With any of the tools where you have to lie down on, its often hard to really vary the amount of pressure you’re getting. With the Muscle Wizard, you can really vary the pressure. And I mean you can REALLY vary it. Think about it. You’re pulling with one of the biggest body parts, your leg. I was really surprised how LITTLE pull I needed to hit the spot. I can vary the pressure from something really light to something really intense.
Another great thing I found was that it doesn’t require much pressure with your free hand or someone you know to get a LOT more pressure. This is where the Muscle Wizard may be great for active and healthy people that feel like they need to be in extreme pain to see any results!
Can do more than trigger points:
I primarily bought the muscle wizard to target my muscle knots. With the foam roller and the roller stick, you can hit a larger area of body and do more of a ‘muscle stripping’ by constantly rolling over it.
With the Muscle Wizard, I was really surprised to learn that I can place one end on my foot and the knobs over my thigh or forearm. By pressing down on the foot, you can really hit the knots. Angle your foot out a bit and you can have the knobs slide over your muscle. This is really helpful for athletes or anyone that has had a good deep massage. You can strip out your muscles. If you’re used to going to your chiropractor or therapist on a regular basis, this will definitely save you some money on that.
Great support:
This product comes with a training video and a free online membership site. Got a question that isn’t answered? Email them. Be shocked and surprised that you’ll probably get a video reply showing you exactly how to use it based on your question. That’s real service. At first, I didn’t know why they overkilled it with all this information. I just wanted a simple product that relieved some muscle knots. The more I use it, the more I see why they do it. This product is not going to limit you just to trigger points.
CONS
There really are no cons. The only one I can think of, and this is a stretch, is that I can’t hit my mid back as well as I can with the cane tools. If all you have are knots in the mid back, get the cane tools. However, you can lie down on the 4 knobs to really target your mid back or play around with it until you get the right angle for the mid back.
The Bottom Line
The Muscle Wizard is probably one of the best products on the market based on what it can do. If you have muscle knots, you can use the Muscle Wizard as light or hard as you want. If you want to find specific muscle areas to strip out, the Muscle Wizard can accomplish this. They also offer a training DVD in the box, and access to the Wizard of Health membership site. Dr. Jasper, the creator of this product, walks through different ways you can use the Muscle Wizard.
The Muscle Wizard may be slightly pricier than most self-massagers. Given the design and hands free use, with different levels of pressure from its adjustable design, the Muscle Wizard is an amazingly useful tool.
I highly recommend this massager for relieving all sorts of back and shoulder pain. With great support and response time from its creator, the Muscle Wizard is easy to use and requires little effort to apply the right amount of pressure you need to massage those muscle knots and trigger points.
