Sitting 8 hours a day working in front of a computer or at a desk can take a lot out of you. It can put a lot of pressure on your back having to keep yourself up right the entire time. Taking care of it early means not having years of growing torment.
Here’s a few of my favourite yoga stretches and positions to really relieve your back muscles. (If you need a visual, there’s a video below of myself demonstrating the stretches I use every morning.)
- Cat pose (on all four)
- Half lord of the fishes stretch (sitting up right)
- Child’s pose stretch (on your face)
- Cobra stretch (on your belly)
- Knee down twist stretch (on your back)
Give these yoga stretches a try for a few minutes for 30 days. Make sure to give yourself deep gentle breaths during the stretches. Relax your muscles, and wherever you feel tense. I guarantee your back will thank you down the road.
